Etiquette and Martial Arts?
Would it be wrong to tell parents to try a Etiquette classes before martial arts for self defense. Since most fights happen because of bad manners, wouldnt etiquette be more use to train your kids in? I practice and LOVE Judo, but feel the etiqutte classes I learned in Boy Scouts have been far more useful in protecting me from violence than either Judo, boxing or kung-fu. It always amazes me when I see parents with snotty kids and they sign them for karate and TKD to protect themselves. When a little bit of manners would probally help them even more. This is only a half serious question, I just want to see what others think.
Im not talking about dojo etiquette, but simple knowing what to say to who and how to say it.
I doubt if that'll help. They can take all the etiquette classes they want til their eyeballs fall out of their sockets, but as long as their parents do not take responsibility for the proper upbringing of their children and set a good example themselves, an etiquette class will only give the parents further excuses not to do it themselves.
