Also, does anyone else find it weird that it’s called Karate Kid yet he’s learning kung fu..

Generally speaking, if something in a martial arts film looks like it could be real, then it’s real. If it doesn’t look real, then it’s not. The blocks that Dre was doing were realistic. The random backflips that people were doing, although doable, are absolutely stupid to use in a fight. The crazy backwards jumping kick that Dre won his fight with, not real, at all. Controlling people with your Chi, not real. You get the idea.

Like Ralph Macchio said it’s just a retelling of a beautiful story. It’s the same story, so it uses the same name, but it’s just got a different take to it is all.
